Our Aquaponics Build as of May 20th 2013

This is a lot of work for an old crippled up guy like my self, but you youngsters should have no problems whatsoever getting this task done quickly. If I had the funds and the means I'd be done already and cycling, but they say all good things come to those who are patient. This first snapshot to the right kinda shows where It was on the 20th of May 2013. But as of this write she is a little more organized and ready for some plumbing...

The Aquaponics Garden is Put Up for the Winter

Hey All, Donnie/ Sinbad the Sailor Man.

Just stopping by to let ya know what is up with the Aquaponics Greenhouse.

Well I cleaned it up and straightened It out some. I still want to put a new layer of wood chips up in the Greenhouse before I quit for the winter.

Plus I would love to rebuild the sump pit box and get a lid on It, back fill and landscape It some before the snow starts to fall or the ground freezes solid.

I took some pictures of It as it sits on the 15th of November 2013

I moved all the tanks to one end and mowed the weeds down. Picked up all of the cut offs and PVC scraps and put them in and behind the East end flower box.

I flipped the troughs over to keep rain water and ice out. I emptied the large tanks and rotated the large fish tank to keep water out as well.

I will flip this little Pond liner here in this picture and put it in the Greenhouse upside down until spring.

If we get funding we will do our best to get things put together before Spring if we get a warm enough day or two to work especially with plastic sheeting. It tends to tear when too cold.

This is the North side of the Aquaponics Greenhouse. The height of the 1,200 gallon tank when It is sitting on the dirt box is just under ten feet.

The Green house is seven and a half foot tall at Its highest point. There are fourteen different style tanks, three six foot round by 18 inch deep kiddie pools, two one hundred gallon troughs, and two fifty gallon troughs; as well as 90 foot of 4 inch PVC pipe.

The whole Garden area will sit upon a 20 x 60 foot section of this backyard. When the Aquaponics Green house is fully operational it will hold over 3,000 gallons of water that is less than one tanker load of water that we use to drill an average 75 foot deep water Well.

She is not design to raise fish but to operate on them. As little as about five hundred adult fish. Will supply this garden with enough nutrients for an average four acre soil garden. 112 feet of flood and drain covered inside a Green house and 480 running feet of raised soil beds outside of the green house.

Not including the Seven pocket Towers we will crowd into and out of the systems Green house areas.

This is the West end of the Greenhouse looking towards the East so far she has a small foot print as everything is compacted together. When complete their will be another 30 x 12 by ten foot tall Greenhouse directly in line and behind this one.

Which will hold our flood and drain troughs. Between these two Green houses will be a covered Breeze way that will enclose the large section tanks.

This Greenhouse has cost so far about two hundred dollars. When sheeted I am guessing it will be close to four hundred and when fully enclosed about five hundred fifty dollars.

That is for a Green house that is 30 foot long by 12 foot wide by 7 1/2 foot tall. This was purposely built this low for heat conservation.

Here you can get a good look at the size of those new raised bed planters that I picked up from a customer of the Well Service. After I get the Garden cycling I plan to build a dozen or so more of this size Planter boxes.

Here you can see some black Polly scraps both one inch and two inch tubing. And if you look behind the planter you see a pile of four inch PVC pipe.

This is the East side looking towards the West. I will be laying down some more wood chips as soon as the ground stiffens up or freezes some.

From the edge of the Greenhouse back another forty feet towards the East. Plus I'll drop a load or two off for the inside of the Greenhouse itself.

This is a four foot deep by 4 x 8 foot box made from treated plywood CDX and some old 4 x 4's

That was a complete walk around the Green house plus I was showing you all that the Sump pit is empty again but they are calling for rain so whats a guy gonna do?

An Update at the Sowles Aquaponins Garden Build Nov. 7th 2013

Donald Beres Jr
Recorded on November 7, 2013 using a Flip Video camera.A quick look at the gift of concrete blocks, and patio blocks from our sponsor plus the first look at the raise beds I picked up  from one of our customers. Still here still kicking still given it what I got to spare at this moment in time. TTFN CYA Later Taters. Donnie/ Sinbad the Sailor Man

I have another short video for this Update My flip cam loves to eat Double A's and The cold doesn't help the life of the ones I am using.

 Donald Beres Jr
Recorded on November 7, 2013 using a Flip Video camera. Quick look at we we have available to use at the Aquaponics Garden Site.

Hey all! How you Doing ? I am doing okay I guess. I have been busy trying to get funding for our own Aquaponics Green House, Learning Center, and Store. I am busy trying to raise funds to get this thing up and running as well as working to get it supplied and cycling. I have started a project with Kickstarter.com for this purpose of funding the garden and learning center. Here is that link so you can check it out :  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/502642684/aquaponics-green-house-and-learning-center

Kickstarter.com is a crowd source funding group it is really cool I never knew about this type of funding before I seen it on TV of all places a show called Two Broke Girls. I like it its about a rich girl who ends up being broke and meets a girl named max who was dirt poor all her life  and their trying to start a cupcake business and their lives as they work at a diner. Well I was board one night and typed kickstarter in and low and behold there was an actual crowd funding place there. So He I am trying to get funding for My Garden and learning center which is kind of an artistic way of growing Food Fish and Veggie together to create hormone free pesticide free, and chemical free fresh organic food. You know the stuff that doesn't give you cancer or diabetes. Stuff that is truly good for you to eat. And stuff that taste like real food use to can you remember those days?

When food was cheap and green and tasted good? I can and I haven't been seeing any for a while now so I want to teach people mostly my children and grand children how to feed themselves and the world around them which they live. We have basically killed the farm lands we have been growing on these last few decade they posses nothing but chemicals this is why we are all overweight and sick in Our Country today another of the Governments big blunders farm control. We should have seen it coming.

And brother It is here today and in full force and growing. I am hell bent on learning to grow our own foods as I have had and do still remember the good green and healthy foods from the recent past say forty years ago when fresh milk was still delivered in glass bottles Farm fresh eggs one or two days old. fresh free range beef pork and chickens. The was and is no comparison to those foods of the past. Image stepping out your back door and clipping off fresh herbs for cooking and/ or fresh flowers for the table.

A small vineyard of green red grapes, picked along with cherries, apples, peaches, pears, and plumbs from your own trees that you feed with the waste water from the Fish you grew in your Aquponics system well this will take a little time fruit is a wonderful thing to have but they require pruning and feeding.

Ever hear the story when you were a kid about the Indians teaching the Pilgrims to grow Maze [corn]?
Well even back then they knew a fish was worth more then the meat off its back. Yep they taught the Pilgrims to bury a fish with every seed of corn and the Pilgrims to this day are eating corn every day and know it not. Fish are a source of natural fertilizer and are healthy when grown correctly with chemicals.

Preservatives and these chemicals are what is killing us off or making us sick for the Pharisaical compies to relieve us of our Money and their illnesses.

Now I am not a Conspiracy theory nut but I am starting to be an of the kind of one as Alex Jones check him out!

I too think that The world is changing because I am a Bible believing kind of nut bag. This stuff is all making more and more sense to me. Cancer, Diabetes, Al-timers, some-Timers you name It people didn't get all this crap as often as they do now why? because they whom ever they are have gotten damn good at their delivery systems. Their transportation systems, advertising systems, and their infrastructures are enormous.

So Grow your own foods and use your own fresh water and fish to grow them with. You won't be sorry that you did.

Well I got to run because I am under the gun.

Update on the Rocket Stove Heater Build

Donald Beres Jr

Recorded on October 28, 2013 using a Flip Video camera. Here is a quick look at what I got built already, but I need to tweak it already.

As it is throwing the smoke back out the feed tube. I think I made the system here to compact. I believe I will have to extend the tank to let the inside riser create a stronger drafting effect.

I'll get to it as soon as I get some other stuff done for my cousin since I am using his equipment and scrap I guess that is only fair. Once I get It working correctly I'll do some grinding and painting on It.

I am creating videos for those who are interested in Sustainable Living, Alternative gardening, Organic foods,Growing their own fish, and much more.

I belong to several like minded Meetups and I am trying to start and run one of my own called "Living & Growing for Our Tomorrows, Sustainable Healthy Foods" You can the link for It in past post and I will be putting a direct link here soon in the side bar.

I am still trying to wind down from the season of Well Service work and looking to creep into some Gardening and some more experimenting with gizmos and gadgets such as these Rocket Stoves and Gassifiers. Until next Time Angels.

The Meet Up Group For the Aquaponics Build at Sowles Well Services

Hey all! How have you been? Me I am still Busy, busy, busy. Going a hundred miles an hour and only getting ten feet up the road on a full tank.

I have started a Meet Up Group to try and get others interested in Our Aquaponics Garden build. Here in Indiana. The Site is Located in Hebron and is a private Home owners Lot. Which I am currently building our first Test run of the Aquponics System.

We both have had gardens in the past and a Traditional Garden is so much more work and the pay off is a hit or miss for most of us backyard Gardeners. The Weather,  the Time, The effort, and the Labor is some times to demanding for us. With the Weeds, the Birds, the Rodents, and the Bugs not to mention the possibility of disease.

I have set two Meet Ups already in the first month of starting the Group and so far Only I and my Sponsor have showed up. I know it will take some Time it always does. To build a following let alone a tight knit Group dedicated to seeing this Venture through.

I know many don't want to do the dirty work that I am currently doing by myself. And getting things ordered up and running is always a drag. But this is where I am at today. Out of Money and lacking time to get everything done. The Season is changing and I am running out of good working weather.

So I am looking for others in the Greater Chicago Land area or even the Tri-State area to Share Ideas with, to teach, and learn from others with. I am sure there are many backyard Gardeners that could teach me many tricks and tips. As I can show them some as well. But I am looking for the new and Organic way of producing Healthy and Nutritional Foods Organically. And on a smaller piece of land or even in Ones own Basements, Back porch,  or in their Garages.

I have some pictures up here at Our Meet Up Page on what I am doing and the conditions of where I am at with the Aquaponics Build.  Here is the Link to the Meet Up Home Page: http://www.meetup.com/Living-Growing-for-Our-Tomorrows-Sustainable-Healthly-Foods/

Here are some recycled Pressure tanks from the Well Service Company. I help out from time to time to pay for the use of the land I am using to Build this Aquaponics Garden on. I have turned these seven tanks into my Filtration system. I have access to these use tanks from time to to time. I will get a video up as soon as I can. Most likely after I  get them installed and working. We are Saving money and being as Green as possible as often as possible.

I have several Blog posts here at this Blog on the  Aquaponics Garden Build check them out. I also have a couple of Hubs at Hubpages.com. In the side bar here is a link to my Hubpages Profile. You can scroll through my Hubs there.

Here is a Rocket Heater I am trying to build for the first Time for our Garden's Green house. These are some of the metal tanks we come across and haul away for our customers. We usually just scrap them out but if we can build something worth building we might do it if we can find the time. And it is worth our wild to do.

I have a Youtube Video here in one of my older posts that shows where I got the Ideal for our Green house. We built at the Aquaponics build site at Sowles Well Services. It cost Us under three hundred dollars. It is a thirty foot by twelve foot Green house. Here is that post:

Well I got tons of other stuff to do so I got to run .

Come One, Come All, I am Calling Out to You!

Hey All, I have created a Meet Up Page or Account in hopes of starting up a group interested in Learning and sharing their Aquaponics secretes with each other. It would be for those of us in the greater Chicago land area mostly but everyone is welcome to join to share and learn of what we have to offer.

So far as of today Oct. 06 2013 we have five members. We have had one Meet up so far and two of us showed and so Its begun. We have a Meetup scheduled for  tomorrow Oct 7th at 6:30pm at the Aquaponics Garden build site in Hebron IN. This is short notice I know and I am sorry I will work on getting better.  You can go to Meetup.com and search for our group Its called "Living & Growing for Our Tomorrows" Sustainable Healthy Foods. There you will find all of our pictures and past Meetups But we are New less than a month old so far and we are just figuring things out both with Meetup and the Garden  too.

I am the organizer so I will be posting here and there as I do with everything I am doing so come and check us out. We are hoping to button up the Green house this month and I have started messing around with a rocket heater just this past Friday I have it roughly figured out and will get pictures and maybe a video soon of It. It is made from two recycled metal pressure tanks and some square tube stock that we had lying around in the scrap pile. I will also start selling some recycled Fiberglass tanks to be used in your own Aquaponics filtering systems or your Pond filtering systems. I'll be placing video here soon of these tanks and how we are using them in our system.

Our system build has fallen way off of schedule as we have been plagued with mechanical breakdowns and many repairs to our vehicles at the Well Service these last few months. Right now our 1,000 gallon holding tank is being used to drill Wells with as our water truck is going under a major brake overhaul. Here is the link to our photo albums at Meetup.com http://www.meetup.com/Living-Growing-for-Our-Tomorrows-Sustainable-Healthly-Foods/photos/

Well I will be getting back here soon with more pictures and hopefully some videos of the rocket heater and the Aquaponics Garden Build @ Sowles Well Service.

I've got to run now because I am under the gun and Time is slipping away.

Update of Our Aquaponics Build at Sowles Well Service June 4th 2013

Published on Jun 4, 2013

Recorded on June 4, 2013 using a Flip Video camera. Hello All I lost about four minutes of this clip because I trimmed the wrong way. Sorry about that. Yeah I am still learning to use the FlipCam and It's Simple software.

Hey I told if I can do It you can too. I am No rocket Scientist thats for sure. But I never claimed to be. I will need to do some more work on the sump pit box and I still want to get the other two tanks cut and their bladders removed and cleaned up and ready.

I will be looking at some Bulk head fittings that we have here at the house. We got a couple lots at an Auction a while back and I'll have to see what I can dig out out the creates that I can make do the job. There is not a lot of pressure in these systems. Everything can be unglued and hand tight; well mostly everything.

I got the longer cut offs up to the Green house and I still need to fit them together as the other cut offs were just to much to piece together. I was losing my mind trying to figure it out. So now it is easy three ten foot pieces for each thirty foot run and two couplings for each pipe. They'll sit nicely on the cement blocks and it will make it easier to clean out when the time comes.

As I said this is being done on the fly nightly after work and I work on It when I can to the beat of a different drummer sort of speak. As I don't drive I have to work around the boss's schedule.

But It will get done eventually. The box is just some thing to keep the dirt out of It. The ground is mostly clay kind of like modeling clay soft and mold able when wet or moist. Hard as brick when dry. So I will line the bottom of the pit with patio blocks and cover it with a lid. This will help keep It cool in summer. Warm in winter and keep debris from entering the tanks as well.

As I was saying I laid out the piping for the feed troughs that will be outside this year. If I get them in time. I don't have a whole of time left to get this part up and running for this years growing cycle. But if I do run with it. I can always throw a quick Hoop house up with this cattle panel stuff. Its fast and easy and very reasonable. But I think I'll use six by six's instead of the Telephone poles if it come to rushing this Green house build. They are much lighter and easier to set. But I am cheap so I'll have to see how fast it needs to be slapped up.

I should just cut four more telephone poles up shouldn't I, Hum. I might do that and have them ready or even set them. First I want to see if I can grow anything. Speaking of I need to start my seeds this week.

I pressure washed the holding tank and the large fish tank as well I got the top cut out of the fish tank. I did that with a grinder and a cutting wheel. It was very easy; messy but easy. I used the dirt from the sump pit to refill the dirt box and placed the rest in front of the dirt box so I could climb straight onto It with out a ladder. I'll Land scape that up some and then I'll get some more dirt from the dirt hills from the pond. And then I'll do the same with the sump pit on two sides, the front and the right side or the west side. On the east side is where the well is and the south side faces the Green house so I'll keep them level, but I will use only wood chips on the Green house side as this is where the plumbing will be.

Getting closer YouTube I have tons to do still, but most of this stuff will go rather quickly once I get the tanks plumbed. I found my fish for this year. I am not sure if there Channel cats or Bull heads. But there are three balls in my uncles pond right now as of today. But if I wait to long the bass will devourer them before I get them into a tank. And the water is way to cold for me to brave It. I'll need a John boat or canoe and a net.

There is usually about hundred Frys in a ball like the ones in the pond, but as I said you don't have much time to catch them before the bass or some other fish or bird eat them up.

The pond is all open water no trees and not many places to hide in for these little guys that's why they ball up the way they do. Protection!

I have a large fifty gallon metal trough I could drag it over there and try to snag about fifty or sixty or even more. And keep them covered at the waters edge. I'll see. I don't have too much Time on my hands, but we'll see what we can do.

If their Channels I grow them Out for eating. If their Bullheads I'll cut them lose in the river or give them to the neighbor for his pond.

Well I got to run. I need to get showered and go to bed. Busy day tomorrow if I want to catch some of those Frys I'll need to be rested.
